About Us

Welcome to Unique Care Group

At Unique Care Group, we’re more than just a provider of disability support services; we’re a dedicated team passionate about making a real difference in the lives of our clients. Directed by Merna, a seasoned professional with a rich background in Social Science and Criminology, we offer a unique blend of support tailored to individuals, especially those involved in the justice system.

Our journey began from a personal story of navigating the complexities of the NDIS for a loved one, which fuels our commitment to simplifying this process for others. We believe in building strong relationships with our clients, their families, and carers to deliver practical assistance that empowers individuals to lead active, engaged, and fulfilling lives.

Merna Shaaya - Support Coordinator

I'm Merna Shaaya, a Justice Specialist Support Coordinator and Director at Unique Care Group. With a passion for supporting vulnerable participants who find the NDIS to be a challenging system, I'm dedicated to supporting you and our clients through our NDIS services. I have previously completed a Bachelor of Social Science and Major in Criminology & Criminal Justice and have experienced the demands of supporting a person with a disability, as my brother suffers from severe Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy. My brother is my best friend and has taught me patience, kindness and has led me to have a profound interest in the NDIS space.

We ourselves found it extremely difficult to navigate the NDIS system and had unfortunately come into contact with providers who misled us and provided inadequate support. This inspired me to seek employment within the NDIS space, targeting justice participants due to my high level of knowledge and expertise in the field of justice, and my lived experience of caring for a person with a disability.

My goal at Unique Care Group is to foster a collaborative environment where employees undertake intensive training to develop and enhance their knowledge of the justice system to be better equipped to support high risk participants. Outside of work, you will find me watching Netflix, going to the gym daily and eating burgers!. Lets not forget that the most crucial part of my day, is coming home to my brother and giving him hugs and kisses.
